The irony here is this guy is a self professed libertarian. Which isn't really that shocking when you consider how libertarians operate: You cannot tell me what to do, but I can tell you what to do.

Smart phones can be a good learning tool for children. If his kid got depressed then he needs to look into what his kid was reading then address why that made his kid depressed with his kid, not the rest of the world.
Like all things your child learns you need to take them buy the hand and be with them so you can help them and guide them.
Parents need to be responsible for there kids education the world is out there you need to help your child digest it, filter and shelter them until they are mature enough to understand the things they see in the world that they will need to deal with as an adult.
But, denying a child thats curious information, is cruel.
All people have different learning speeds.
