I post a lot of photos and., from time to time, post screenshots that have been cropped down using the Paint.NET app, which I absolutely love. Unfortunately, Paint.NET defaults to PNG for saving newly adjusted files and I wanted to know, is PNG a better file type to use than JPG, especially for posting on the web.

Turns out, it depends on what you're posting.
