I have a great disdain for anyone who doesn't treat their pets like members of the family but I may actually lose it and end up in jail if I ever saw someone treating their dog like poor Dolly here was treated.

To go on the record: I have rarely met an aggressive pit bull. Once. At the dog park these two were teaming up on other dogs -- maybe they were just playing rough, maybe not, but most of the other dogs didn't seem to care for their level of interaction. When they went after Kincorra I told the owner, who had been sitting by letting his dogs "play" with others as they wanted, that if his dogs hurt mine I would kill them. A couple of other people finally spoke up and told him his dogs were too aggressive to be there. He left.

That's it. And I've been by dozens of these (aggressive) dogs since then. Never a problem.

Breed specific legislation is stupid, encouraged and enforced by the naive for the ignorant. It's the same as race specific legislation or car specific legislation. It does nothing but rely on the fear and stupidity of the witless.

Things like this have always made me want to behave like someone that occasionally participates in fights and tries to find new places to bet, only to turn in the details of everything I find and shut them down.

Bad owners are often the ones responsible for nasty dogs, but it's always easier to ban the breed.
