Facebook is preparing to launch Facebook for Work as a communications tool designed around "it's familiar."

Did anyone tell the marketing folks at Facebook that nothing is familiar until it becomes familiar? For example, I find Google+ much more familiar than Facebook, but someone who's never used G+ might find it daunting at first. This goes for any tool from which OS is on your computer to which paywall and accounting software your company uses.

I don't think "familiar" is a big enough draw, not when Microsoft and Google have full suites of options available. Sure the people in Redmond might be retiring Yammer, but they're doubling down on Skype, just as Google is refocusing Hangouts towards enterprise use.
