They're exploiting the situation.  All they're doing at this point is adding fuel to the fire and trying to put whatever spin on it suits their bias.  Even the article you linked to is doing it, referring to the incident as a "murder" when the incident is this under investigation.  This whole mess if full of bad actors and the parties involved on both sides of this would be best suited if they all packed up and went home.

There should be media there, but not a circus, which is what it has become.  Now its just one more thing adding to confusion and inserting themselves into the story.  There's too many variables and the water is too muddy.  So when the police who are ultimately trying to get this matter resolved want some of these factions to leave, good.  They can come back when they want to be good journalists.

To paraphrase one of my favorite mad bastards: If any of those goat-fuckers gave two tugs on a dead dog's cock about the truth this wouldn't be such a damned mess.

You're assuming the police are looking for the truth. The police are looking to pull the smoke over everyone's eyes and its the media that will keep them honest. Being in the heat of the battle allows the media to publish first hand eyewitness accounts instead of recollections after the fact and doctored reports.

You're operating under the assumption that the police are in the wrong in the case.  Don't.  That's a mistake.  Wait until all the facts are clear and in the open.  The investigation is still underway.

I'm shutting down Google+ for the night and quite possibly for the weekend. Why? This stupid #gifwars thing people are so proud of. This Adam Black guy said he doesn't like gifs and now everyone is mass trolling him. Having been mass trolled like this I can relate to him easily enough. Have an opinion and the collective might of Google+'s lower class denizens jump on a bandwagon. I just saw a post where someone wanted to jump on board and had to get clarification she was tagging the proper Adam Black. She wasn't even connected to him ! Nor was she a part of the original discussion. She just wanted to follow the herd. When I called her out of it she claimed, "one gif doesn't make a troll." Perhaps not, but she's contributing to a larger troll effort. One straw doesn't break the camel's back, but thousands will. So, tonight, Google+ disgusts me. It probably will tomorrow as well. And possibly Sunday. I gave up Google+ for two months this spring
