This is the question:

This is the question:

To stay with T-Mobile and continue to pay nearly $90/mo for spotty (data) service and slower than expected HSPA+ speeds, or switch to Sprint via a friend's family plan and save about $50/mo from my T-Mobile bill/

Pros: cheaper to switch
Cons: loss of account control, slower speeds (Denver has WiMax, but no LTE).

Voice coverage is decent with both, but T-Mobile's data coverage has been very spotty for me to the point where I can sit in the same location for an hour, use it, and watch as the service goes in and out.

So, any Sprint users out there have any advice?

Both companies have the Galaxy SIII, but on T-Mobile I would also consider the OneS.

I don't live in Denver, but it's likely Sprint's 3G is horrid. So honestly that's a wash imo, compared to TMOUS. However Denver should be on the short(er) list for getting LTE+NV so there is actual hope in the future of a decent network, whereas TMOUS might be even further away.

GNEX > GS3

Price is nice, unlimited is nice on Sprint.

I know Kirsty Lawer lives around there & had Sprint last i knew, maybe she can confirm what 3G is like.

If you want i can take a look at the plans for NV+LTE in Denver

Switch now or wait until they finish the network vision upgrades in your area and switch.

Well for a hundred bucks a month you can have a Galaxy S3 on Verizon, unlimited voice calls, unlimited text and 2 GB of data a month.
Much better network than Tmo or even Sprint.
3G is great, I love my Sprint service here. The WiMAX is spotty though. I mainly have Sprint because I use an obscene amount of Data and the unlimited plan is super helpful for that.
Bob Jewels shared data? No thanks. I choose to use my phone.
Wow its actually good 3gz? Thanks Kirsty Lawer

Yeah the data is the thing you have to monitor.  They say on average, most people use half a gig per month when combined with WIFI.Kirsty Lawer

No it is not shared if you have the only phone on the account...lol

Right now I have unlimited data on T-Mobile with limited voice minutes. However, I am grandfathered in on a MyFaves plan and with that and GVoice, I use about 100 minutes a month. I do use a lot of data, though.

Bob Jewels, Verizon Wireless is out of the question. I used to work for Verizon, had their wireless service (which was terrible) and Verizon was a horrible company. They will never get an ounce of my money.

Drew Dauffenbach, what is "NV+LTE?" Also, I checked, Denver isn't even listed as an area that's getting LTE on Sprint's agenda. Apparently, it's a smaller market.

Hi Jason ON, we would really hate to see you go. :( T-Force can look into any issues for you. What plan are you currently on? Can you check your coverage here: http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/pcc.aspx - What does it show? ^MG
Jason ON NV is network vision, Sprint's master plan to having an actual network to compete with others. NV+LTE just means they are rolling it out together, so in theory places with LTE should get much better 3G as well.

Also keep in mind, Sprint doesn't charge you for any mobile to mobile minutes to any carrier. Way better than a MyFaves plan in most scenarios.

T-Mobile, I call customer support just about every time I lose the service and have time to deal with your automated voice system and being on hold. So, lately, about 3 or 4 times a week. Also, I'm on a MyFaves (grandfathered) plan with 600 minutes and unlimited data. I don't want to lose the unlimited data. However, with the spotty service I can't justify the cost.

That being said, I have trouble-shot the phone and service over and over with T-Mo 611. It never lasts long. The map shows "satisfactory."

I'd forgotten about that. The mobile-to-mobile calling. Most everyone I call I call on mobile.

How much data do you actually use on a monthly basis?  Out of curiosity.Jason ON

Have you considered converting to a prepaid Monthly4G account if/once your line is out of contract? I second Bob's question. ;) ^MG
Jason ON said…
Not sure. Most of the time I'm in a wifi area, but recently I've used a bit more due to access to wifi. Is there a way to look into that, T-Mobile?

Unlimited data for some people is really not necessary.  The pre-paid suggestion is NOT a bad one.  You could really cut your expenses down that way.

Jason ON - You may be able to view your total usage on my.t-mobile.com under recent usage, or your last bill. BUT, if it's showing up blank, we may have to check your account. You can always contact support via chat to review it: http://support.t-mobile.com/community/chat ^MG

I was ready to say move to the cheaper option but the fact that T-Mobile  jumped in here and is talking to you is a major prop for them. Good job T-Mobile!
Jason ON said…
Which is another consideration for me, Brenda Curtis. T-Mobile has been great with their customer service (most of the time).
Bob Jewels said…
Yeah you could probably get an Android with unlimited everything for maybe 50 bucks a month with NO added taxes.
T-Mobile said…
Thanks Brenda Curtis! Keep us posted Jason ON! ^MG

Bob Jewels, depending on the state, the only taxes that would apply would be retail/sales tax. :) ^MG
My husband and I have Sprint (in the Denver area) and we love it.  The 4G is pretty quick but I would check a Sprint coverage map.  Where we live is right where there isn't 4G but it's all around us.

Still haven't made a decision. I even went to phonescoop.com and side-by-side compared the SIII (available on all networks) and the Galaxy Note which T-Mobile just announced as well. There is a half inch difference in sizes, so I'm not sure if it's an issue or not.

However, like I said, I could save $40ish dollars a month going with Sprint on my friend's family plan.

Decisions, decisions.

Jason ON Not to dredge up a year old thread but what did you decide? Much like your feelings on VZN I used to work for Sprint and swore I would never go back to them again too. I do see that over on my side of the metro, according to the T-Mo coverage maps, 4G has been turned on finally. Sprint shows as 3G only for me. I've not had bad issues with data on AT&T but the voice quality for the few times I use it has been horrible. AT&T seems to have a lot more Free Wi-Fi spots available if you travel a lot.  I'm trying to make a decision too, although my current AT&T contract is not up until Oct 14 so I would be paying a ETF to leave.

I stuck +t-mobile, Steve. They're active here on Google+ and their customer
service has essentially been great.

Coverage and signal strength could be better, especially near where I live.
Voice is non-existent inside amd mobile is dreadful. A few blocks away in
nearl any direction and the service is so much better.
