Mississippi is the sphincter of America. One should not be surprised when crap comes out of it.

Mississippi is why there needs to be better legislation against discrimination at the federal level, and the funds to enforce it.
Unenforceable with any amount of money. There are active chapters of the KKK in MS. Only thing that will change that place is generations of racists dying off and not having any children.
Eli Fennell Exactly. This should be a non issue because the couple should go to another church or a courthouse. Racist churches would die out if people would stop going to them.

Unfortunately Jonathan Moulton, you're almost certainly right.  Or maybe a large migration of non (or at least less) racists that can educate and outvote the racists, which also is exceedingly improbable.
It was all fun and games when we were bashing the gays, but I didn't think they would ever exclude me!
This feels awful!!!!
Emily Evans Human beings are predictable as the tides. It's not terribly hard to know what makes them tick.  Getting anyone to move to MS is definitely a big undertaking. First off it is full of racists. Secondly It is hot as the surface of the sun. Thirdly it is competing for highest obesity rate, lowest literacy, highest murder rate, lowest broadband internet penetration, highest postpartum infant and child below 12 mortality rate, and highest corruption of government officials. The only people who live there do so because they can't leave, due to poverty or apathy, or because for some insane reason they like it there. Oh also did I mention they have chiggers, around 4 or 5 types of deadly poisonous snake, and nothing but flat swamp for most of their terrain.
