What's the definition of 'irony'?

What's the definition of 'irony'? Performing a speedtest on the One S at the T-Mobile store and getting network errors. Ha ha ha!

Oh, T-Mobile , how you're making me want to go elsewhere.

Run run run, I'm so sick of their shitty customer service

Those aren't network errors, they're "communication issues." It says so right in the error issue message.

Network is the actual method of transporting communication, Amy Donovan. Technically, it could have been a server error, a phone error or an app error.

It's still ironic, though.

1. Download / install a terminal emulator.
(I use the Android-Terminal-Emulator by jackpal)
2. Open the Terminal Emulator
3. Type this (without the quotes): "ping 8.8.8.8" (8.8.8.8 is Google open DNS)

look at the time=xx.x ms

then back out of the app

That is a pretty fair (literal) estimate of a networks speed / latency in regards to the hardwares ability.

on a home wifi that time should be in the 30's, on a 4G connection... I usually see it in the 300's

Just tried the ping 8.8.8.8

My home wifi was between 50-70 but the 4g couldn't connect to the network right now

Ps. Couldn't post this from my 4g connection, had to turn back on wifi to post this comment

Not surprising... Try it (the 4G) sometime when you are out and about doing terrible things to the world.

My WiFi numbers came in at like 35-36 ms... May be my router... gigabit... Though like I said... It depends (mostly) on the network... your numbers are telling you just what I based my suggestion on.

I suppose it could be hardware too... I'm not sure what kind of speeds you should expect from the Wi-Fi harware on your phone... I'm using the HTC G2

I'm using the G2 as well. I think Tmo's network gets bogged down a lot because at "low usage" times I have no problems and then during "high usage" times I can barely move.
