Proofs of God’s Existence

I want to say first that technically we cannot prove God’s existence to the world’s standards. I do not have a videotape of God. All we can do is look at all the evidence that is available to determine the most plausible, scientific, logical and most intellectually reasoned thing to believe.
 
Secondly I want to address the concept of science vs. faith. Many people will say that a belief in God is not scientific but merely a matter of faith. One thing that we’re going to establish here is that a belief in God is scientific. Not that there is anything at all wrong believing in God on faith alone. I would however like to show you that a belief in God is backed up by science. We don’t believe in God because of science however science does back up our belief in God.
A lot of people have and will continue to ask, If God exists who made him? If someone asks you that question just simply tell them; nobody made God. God has always existed. Just because our human minds cannot comprehend infinity does not mean that infinity does not exist. God tells us in His word that he has always been. We have no reason to deny that just because we don’t understand.

I would like to start this by taking a chunk from a previous post I wrote to go over the 1st and 2nd laws of Thermodynamics.
Laws of Thermodynamics Specifically First and Second laws of Thermodynamics. You’ll see that the second law has more to do with evolution and showing it’s scientifically impossible more than the first law.
I’ll explain the first law so that you can understand it and how it leads to the second.
First Law is a conservation of energy law. In the universe, everything is made up of matter and energy. The matter can convert into energy and energy can convert into energy. So, there is all this matter and energy throughout the universe. The stars, planets, comets. The First Law of Thermodynamics states that however much matter and energy there is in the universe; there can never be more and there can never be less. In other words, you cannot and or decrease the amount of matter and energy in the universe. In the very simple terms…you cannot create something out of nothing. You cannot go from nothing to suddenly the creation of matter an energy. When you have matter and energy you cannot cause it to cease to exist. You can only change its physical properties but it always has to be there.
This is the First Law of Thermodynamics…it is a scientific law just like the Law of Gravity is a scientific law.

You can debate a PHD Evolutionary scientists even Atheists anyone for that matter and ask the question how did we go from nothing in the Universe to something in the universe? All the planets, the stars everything else. If they are honest…it is impossible for them to have any explanation because it is violating this first law of thermodynamics. In essence we are asking them, where did everything come from? A 5 year old child could out debate a PHD scientist by asking them this simple question. Where did all the stuff come from? What that 5 year old is really asking is how do we have a violation of the first law of thermodynamics by the creation of matter and energy in the closed system of the universe? That’s really what the 5 year old is asking, they just don’t realize it.

There is no scientific explanation how matter and energy can be created from nothingness.
Second Law of Thermodynamics. The second law has a little more direct impact on the theory of evolution.

Everything in a closed system will tend toward a state of equilibrium. A closed system is a system that does not have any outside influence. An open system does have outside influence. Ok, back to equilibrium. You can take a mug of hot chocolate and a mug of frozen water and set them on the dining room table. Eventually those two liquids are going to become the same temperature. This is actually the second law of thermodynamics at work.
Another key principal of the second law of thermodynamics is entropy. Meaning that things will tend to decay, things will decay, things will go from order to chaos. For example. If you look at a neat stack of papers on your desk. As people walk by, wind, the cat jumps up on your desk…sooner or later those papers are going to go from that neat stack you had to a mess on your desk. What will not happen to that stack as all of the surrounding influences take place…they will not straighten themselves up into a neat stack again after they have been messed up. If they did, that would be a violation of the second law of thermodynamics.

Another key principal of the second law of thermodynamics is that things will not increase in complexity and design, rather they will tend to decrease and they break down. That’s just the way it works it is a physical law.

The problem with evolution is that it says there was this big bang explosion 15+ billion years ago and what happened over that 15 billion years was complexity and design started to build..it just started to develop on its own and then life developed eventually on its own. Then that life grew in more complexity more design and more order. This violates the second law of thermodynamics.

Some evolutionists will say that the second law of thermodynamics does not apply to earth because the earth is an open system. Let me explain. On the earth we have life that according to EVOLUTION gradually got more complex..you know everything started from these little amoebas in the oceans. Eventually they grew into tadpoles and then fish. Then the fish developed legs and the crawled up on to land and got higher and more complex…on and on we eventually ended up with human beings. All this is of course a violation of the second law of thermodynamics.

Now, what the evolutionists will say as I mentioned above is that the earth is receiving influence from outside sources. We receive radiation from the sun. We get hit by meteors and various things from space. The earth does have influence from the outside. This makes the earth an open system. So, evolutionists will claim that the second law of thermodynamics does not apply because again the earth is an open system receiving outside influence.
I am going to tell you that is a ridiculous argument and here’s why.
The outside influence the earth receives is random energy. We receive random energy from the sun. We receive random impacts from space debris. Because we receive random energy hitting this earth that will only cause entropy to increase. That will cause the degradation process to increase. So we should be going from order to chaos. From neatness to sloppiness. This should be happening at a faster rate because we are being bombarded with outside random energy.

Let’s move along here. I’d like to go into now that life cannot come from non-life. The concept of getting life from no life is called Abiogenesis. This is typically what Atheists believe in. They believe that somehow life just “sprang” into existence at some point billions of years ago in the ocean somewhere. The problem is that is just not scientific.

What is the definition of science? Science is nothing more than determining the best possible explanation or hypothesis based upon observation testing and making predictions. That’s what you do in science. You try to determine what happened.

Let’s see if this concept of Abiogenesis stands up to science.
Remember the first criteria for science is observation. 1st question we can ask: Has anyone ever observed life coming into existence from non-life? The answer to this question is undeniably no. It has never been observed in any lab anywhere on planet earth.
The second criteria for science is testing. 2nd question we can ask. Is there any test that can be done that will produce life from non-life? The answer again is absolutely none.

The 3rd criteria for science is predictions. 3rd question we can ask. Are there any predictions that can be made that will produce life from non-life? The answer again is no there is not.
The scientists that believe that God does not exists and are holding on to this Abiogenesis theory. This belief that life somehow just sprang into existence are not being scientific. What is funny about this is they are the ones that accuse Christians of not being scientific. Believing that there is a God is in fact scientific. Because we know that science will not allow life to come from non-life. Yet we see that we have life all around us. So, it is a scientific conclusion that there must be a being capable of creating life from non-life. Do not let someone tell you that a belief in God is just a matter of faith. It is in fact also a matter of science. If you’re not going to believe that God created life you’re going to have to come up with some other theory of why we have life. Abiogenesis does not work scientifically.

What is the alternative?
People say all the time prove to me that God exists. Show Him to me. Christians get on the defense and try to come up with ways to prove God’s existence. I submit to you that it’s just not on our shoulders to prove He exists. It is an Atheist’s responsibility to prove He does not. It’s an Atheists responsibility to prove how we can have life and complexity, design, matter, energy on their own from nothingness with no guiding hand. This to me is their responsibility. If someone says to you prove to me that God exists…turn it back around on them and say, no…you prove to me that he does not exist. You prove to me that matter and energy in the universe came into existence on their own from nothing. Then designed itself from an explosion and then became alive. Laugh out loud…the burden of proof as far as I’m concerned is on the Atheist.

Logic Common Sense and Reasoning
How many of you have seen an image of the Egyptian Sphinx? Think of the Egyptian Sphinx a moment if you would out there in the sand. If you are an Atheist are you open to the possibility that no one carved that sphinx? Rather it just over time looks that way from the wind and sand and erosion cutting into the rock and it just happened to create the image of the Sphinx that we currently see. After all you weren’t there when it was carved…I know I certainly was not. Neither of us can prove how it was carved into the image that it is. So, are you open to sand and wind being the cause of that Sphinx being there instead of an intelligence being responsible for its creation? Yes or No. My guess is the Atheist is going to say no. At that point you should ask them why are they not open to that idea? Why are you not open to the possibility? My best guess is that they will say because there is too much complexity and design.

At that point you ask them; what’s more complex, that Sphinx or the human body? They are going to have to admit to you that the human body is more complex. Then you ask them; Why do you believe that there is no way that Sphinx could just randomly come together on its own but are willing to believe that something far more complex such as life could come together on its own? This is a total contradiction of logic

Now sometimes an Atheist might say…give it several billion years, some chance and well there’s a good chance it might happen. The universe is 15 billion years old…that’s quite a bit of time. Anything is possible in that amount of time. This is just simply not true.

Here’s an example. Let’s take an alarm clock and disassemble it completely. All the gears, the shafts springs, nuts, screws, pieces of plastic hands etc. We now have a pile of disassembled parts that no longer resembles an alarm clock. Let’s put all those parts into a big coffee can. Put the lid on the coffee can and then start shaking the coffee can. How many years of shaking that coffee can do you think before all those parts will reassemble themselves back to its original form of a working alarm clock? Do you think it will take 15 billion years? I submit to you it will never happen….ever. Any atheist will have to agree with you that it will never happen…not in 1 year, 15 billion years…150 billion years…never. The thing of it is here…at least you have all the components to make an alarm clock in one place. They are already cut and designed to fit each other. But it’s just not going to come together on its own. What they would have you believe is that you an empty can and through 15 billion years of shaking you’re going to get an alarm clock…you see how illogical this is to believe there is no God?

I have had this said to me. I don’t see God. If I don’t see God, I don’t believe in him. That’s not logical either because of simple cause and effect. For example, look outside and see the leaves blowing in the wind. You don’t see the wind do you? Yet you believe the wind is there. Why do you believe the wind is there when you don’t see the wind? I’ll tell you why. It’s because of the effect of the wind.  You see the leaves flying through the air. You see the trees and the branches blowing and bending. The same direction that the leaves are flying. You therefor conclude that there is a cause for the effect you see. This is a logical conclusion. Right? Your conclusion is there must be wind.

So, Logic Common Sense and Reasoning points to the fact that there is a God.
Another reason for there being a God has to with the mathematical impossibility of life generating on its own. Mathematically it is impossible that there could not be a God. Remember a little while ago Atheists will say Chance + Time and anything will happen? I’m going to show you right now that is just mathematically not true. Before this lets think about the human body for a minute. The human body has 206 bones in it and 639 muscles. Each step we take requires the coordination of about 300 muscles. Let’s break it down to the very simple parts of the human body. The simplest protein molecule has over 400 linked amino acids in it arranged in a specific order. I want to determine with you right now whether or not 15 billion years is enough time for even the simplest protein molecule to form on its own. I’m going to show you how there is no way. We are going to simplify this even further and come up with a hypothetical test, a hypothetical puzzle and let’s see if mathematically 15 billion years is enough time to solve an even simpler puzzle than the simplest protein molecule. I want you to imagine a 100 piece puzzle. This 100 piece puzzle is made up of a deck of playing cards. A thick deck of playing cards where there is 100 cards and the cards are numbered 1 through 100 but there is a correct sequence of these cards that will solve the mystery of life. In other words, if you can get the correct sequence of these cards, then you can solve this 100 piece puzzle and you can create we’ll say the simplest protein molecule. But let’s remember the simplest protein molecule has over 400 amino acids arranged in a specific order. Here we’re just talking about 100 cards.

So how do we figure out how many combination options there are in this deck of cards? The magic combination is not 1…2…..3…4…all the way up to 100. That would be too easy. It has to be some kind of a random mix. Maybe the first card is 37, the second 89…you get my point. Whatever that combination that is you have to stumble on that to solve the puzzle. So, how do we figure this out? You have to do something that is called a factorial. A factorial is where you take 100X99X98X97X96X95 all the way down to 1 and the number you come up with is going to be a really big number. Those are the number of different combination options you have for this deck of 100 cards. In simpler terms let’s say you started with 3 cards. A 1 a 2 and a 3. How many different combination options do you have for arranging those cards with just the 3 cards? There is a total of 6. Here they are:
1,2,3
1,3,2
2,1,3
2,3,1
3,2,1
3,1,2

That’s it. There is a total of 6 combination options with those 3 cards. You could achieve that with a factorial as well by doing 3X2X1 which we can see equals 6. That would have been the easy way.

So how many combination options are there for 100 piece puzzle…or 100 cards? I will tell you, it equals 10 to the 158th power. In simpler terms that is a 1 with 158 zeroes after it. That is a huge number. That is how many different combination options you have with that deck of 100 cards. If you shuffle that deck 1 with 158 zeroes behind it times…the laws of probability say that you may stumble on the correct combination option for those cards. So, is 15 billion years enough time to solve this puzzle? I say no, and here’s why. I’m going to take that 15 billion years and double it. I’ll be generous and give the Atheist 30 billion years. You know in 30 billion years there is only 10 to the 18th power number of seconds? Not days, not hours…seconds. Yet the number of combination options we have for our simple 100 piece puzzle is 10 to the 158th power. So if you do the math 10 to the 18th power from 10 to the 158th power equals 10 to the 140th power. What this means is that I would have to shuffle that deck and reshuffle it and reshuffle it 10 to the 140th power number of times every second on the second for 30 billion years straight before probability says I would stumble upon the correct combination of our 100 piece puzzle. Do you see now how it is mathematically impossible that there could be no God?
I want you to think about the complexity of life, let’s start again with the human body.
Here are some more statistics about the human body and what it has.

10 fingers, 10 toes, a nose, a mouth and as I go through this I want you to keep in mind the evolutionist or the atheist would have you believe that this level of complexity developed on its own. Which of course again is a violation of the 2nd law of thermodynamics which we talked about earlier. So, 10 toes, 10 fingers, a nose, a mouth 2 eyes each with 120,000,000 photo receptors, 2 ears each with 24,000 hairs that convert sound vibration into electrical impulses, A body with over 30,000,000,000,000 cells and 2,000,000 sweat glands that automatically regulate body temperature to within a fraction of a degree, a brain with over 100,000,000,000 cells each one with over 50,000 neuron connections to other brain cells, a central nervous system, blood flow, organs, consciousness, a standard of morality, self-awareness, a vocabulary, and the necessary vocal chords to say “I don’t think I evolved into this.”

Think about the logic of that for just a moment. But also when we talk about the complexity of life consider if you would the development of the organs in the human body. Do you realize that if there is no God, and evolution is true that organs would have had to gradually develop inside the human body and the body of animals around the world. I’d like to show you how that is illogical.

I saw an interesting question posed on a creation website. It was: “How did the first heart, lungs, brain, stomach, kidneys, veins, blood etc. develop in the first animal by slow minute steps and survive while these changes were occurring?” For example; did the first animal develop 10% of complete veins, then 20% and on up to 100% with veins throughout its entire body and brain? How did the heart slowly develop in the animal and get attached to the veins in the right spot? How did the blood enter the system? The blood could not enter the veins before complete or it would spill out. Correct? So where did the blood come from in the first place? Did it have red cells, white cells, platelets, plasma? At what point in this process did the heart start beating? Did the animal develop a partial stomach and then a complete stomach? After the stomach was formed, how did the digestive juices enter the stomach? Where did the hydrochloric acid as part of the digestive juices come from? What about its kidneys and bladder. The animal better not eat or drink anything prior to this. How do you think the animal survived during these changes? And over 1000’s or millions of years? And of course at the same time the animals eyes had to be developed so it could see its food and its brain had to be fully developed so that it could control its body to go get the food. Like the heart, brain, veins and stomach all of the organs and systems in the first animal’s body must be fully functional in the first moments of life if evolution is true. Do you see how incredibly illogical that is?  

Now let’s look at the Bible. Did you know that science actually confirms the bible? Let’s go through some examples.

Did you know that when the book of Isaiah was written that the common understanding was that the earth was flat? Conventional wisdom and science at that time taught that the earth was flat. A lot of people believe that Christopher Columbus in 1492 solved the mystery of the earth being flat. That is not true. In 1492 most everyone understood that the earth was round. However at the time Isaiah was written most thought the earth was flat. Nobody had any concept that the earth was round. But guess what in Isaiah 40:22 we are told that the earth is a sphere.
“It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:”
Science did not know that then, so how did Isaiah?

Did you know that when Jerimiah was written conventional wisdom, science of that time taught that there were only 1100 stars? There was no reason to believe that there were any more stars beyond what you could see with the naked eye. However Jeremiah 33:22 says that the number of stars are incalculable.

“As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.”

Now, we know that now to be true. Even with the Hubble Telescope we can’t tell how many stars there are. The farther out we are able to see the more stars there are to see. There was no way they could have known that when the Bible was written.
Did you know during the time the book of Job was written the conventional belief was the earth was not only flat but it also sat on top of a large animal? Believe it or not that’s what people thought then and when the animal would move you’d have things like earthquakes. Nobody had a clue science had no clue that the earth was actually floating in space. Yet guess what, in Job 26:7 you see that the earth free floats and is suspended by nothing.

“He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.”

How do they know that?

Do you know that at the time the book of Hebrews was written science had no idea whatsoever of atoms. They had no idea whatsoever that all of creation was made up of atoms. However in Hebrews 11:3 we see that creation is made of invisible elements.

“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”

At the time Jesus walked the earth the conventional wisdom was that all the stars that we see in the sky were the same. Nobody had any clue that there was any difference between the stars. However we see in 1 Corinthians 15:41 that each star is different.

“There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.”

Of course we know that now to be true.

At the time Ecclesiastes was written the common understanding then was that winds blew in a straight line. Nobody had any idea then that there were things such as cyclones, there wasn’t Doppler radar and there wasn’t satellite images. Nobody knew, science didn’t know that wind blew in cyclones etc. it was assumed that wind blew straight. Ecclesiastes 1:6 we see that wind blew in cyclones.

“The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.”

Did you know that at the time Leviticus was written the common wisdom of the day, common science and medicine of the day was that sick people needed to be bled. Of course we know now that blood is the source of life and health. Leviticus 17:11 confirms this

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”

How did they know that then?

At the time 1st and 2nd Samuel was written the common knowledge was that the ocean floor was flat. Of course today we know that the ocean contains deep valleys and mountains. Guess what 2nd Samuel 22:16 says that the oceans contain deep valleys and mountains.

“And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the Lord, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.”

At the time the book of Job was written convention wisdom was that the oceans were filled only by rivers and rain. Nobody knew that the ocean also had springs that would feed water into the ocean. Job 38:16 were told that the ocean contained springs.

“Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?”
How did they know all of this stuff back then if it weren’t for God?”

Let’s move on now to non-physical human characteristics.
For example human emotion. Emotions such as love, hate, jealousy, pre-meditation and pride. You have to ask yourself if, there is no God and we are nothing more than mutated beings that have gradually evolved and mutated from primordial goo. How is it then we have such a consistency throughout humanity of these feelings? Where do these emotions come from? What is the source? How do emotions evolve? How is that all humans experience these emotions? There is no evolutionary model for this. It seems to me the logical thing to conclude is that they must have come from God.

Think about self-awareness for a moment. Humans are self-aware. But that’s it. There is nothing else on the planet that is self-aware. People will say yeah….there are some pretty smart animals. They’ll say I’ve seen what dolphins can do, I’ve seen what chimpanzees can do. Neither of these are self-aware. The dolphin is not swimming around thinking gee…I wish I was human. Likewise for any other creature on earth. They do not have that level of self-awareness.
Morality is another non-physical human characteristic that points to an existence of God. Where did morality come from…basic morality? A general sense of right and wrong that permeates all of humanity. What is the source of this morality?

Have you noticed that all humanity seeks to form some form of spiritual connection. Have you noticed that? What is the source of this spiritual homing device that humans possess? Unfortunately some people are chasing after false spirituality and false gods. The bottom line is however that they are seeking something. It is as though God created humans with a homing device to seek him out. All throughout humanity humans have sought some sort of spiritual connection. How is that if we’re all just random evolutionary process?

The last and probably most important part I want to talk about here to show that God exists is Jesus Christ Himself. Jesus life, his miracles and his resurrection. Jesus was a real man that walked this earth 2000 years ago. He said that there is a God. As a matter of fact He said that He is God in the flesh 2000 years ago this is who Jesus Christ was as he walked this earth. He defied sickness, He defied disease, He defied weather, and He defied death. This is historically documented by eyewitnesses not refuted in any writings anywhere from that generation. This is important to know. You cannot just say that a belief in Jesus is nothing more than a matter of faith. There are eyewitnesses and documents to prove that he did in fact exist. His miracles, His defying of the laws of physics, His death on the cross, His resurrection 3 days later, His hanging around for 40 days in front of 500 brethren which when you factor in women and children you’re talking about probably over 1500 to 2000 people that he hung out with for 40 days after he arose from the dead. This is all documented by eyewitnesses and there are no writings anywhere, archaeology, or epigraphy from the people of the day discounting the claims of the eyewitnesses. There is no logical reason to believe that this is not true.
