However, languages are also culturally unifying and changing the language could disrupt the culture.
But then, there are those words, such as "terrific" that have evolved to mean another thing. Maybe we are taking the word "terrific" and changing it as slang. Since "bad" means "good" and "sick" or "ill" can also mean "good".
I hate it when people delete their comments instead of owning up to them.... referring to Meli mispoken here, I was blocked, comments not deleted :)
