You're trying to tell me that active duty police officers couldn't tell the difference between a 10 year old with short hair and a 20 year old with dreadlocks and facial hair?
If the police officers can't tell the difference between these two individuals how is any court supposed to take their testimony seriously in any case they may have to testify during?
And to think this child had a fairly good chance of dying because these cops couldn't distinguish between a 10 year old and a man twice his age.
A year ago, or so, my neighbor mentioned he had his first "black moment." He's a 30ish year old black guy who didn't own a car and therefore took the bus just about everywhere. One day, after exiting the bus, a local patrol car pulled up and the officer confronted him. "Where are you going? Where are you coming from? Let's see some ID." You know, those kinds of questions.
He told me the officer said they were looking for a man with his description: 6ft, on the larger side, etc.
He said he wasn't sure what was going to happen until another patrol car pulled up and told the first officer, "That's not our guy. We're looking for a thin Hispanic man."
My neighbor could have been detained, arrested or worse all because the original cop wasn't very good at his job.
