Found a word to describe my mom. I swear, she talks so much it's like she's narrating her life for the rest of us.

My grandmother does that: pretty much continuous narrative even when (I've found when she was out in the garden) there is nobody actually there to hear.  In her case it appears to be a neurosis caused by childhood abuse and neglect.  (In and out of orphanages when her mother was in/out of what were then called insane asylums.)

It's so very annoying. She (my mom) talks just to talk. She can't handle silence or anyone around her not actively engaging her. I've tried to be nice to her and let her know I'm busy, tried to be firm with her and tell her I don't have time to talk and now I"m just up to the ignoring stage. So, naturally, she thinks I'm a jerk who hates her.

seem to remember it being a prominent word in early childhood fairy tales and whatnot, but I can't recall having heard it in real life conversation in, well, ever.
