So, when did Google+ start loading URLs inside Google+ instead of opening the default browser?

So, when did Google+ start loading URLs inside Google+ instead of opening the default browser?

I should note: this is happening on mobile ala LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest and all the others.

I wouldn't care except half of them are mostly blank pages with a google error.  In Chrome on Mac.

Not for me. I just noticed it tonight and I share from mobile all the time.

It's new with the latest release.
I noticed an update to G+ last night. I suppose that's when it was implemented. I wonder if this has anything to do with AMP, which was released recently.

From what little I understood of that link, it would appear so. But Google+ hasn't done so in ... well, ever. If they're doing it now, why?

I get the impression that Google app dev teams are often not too coordinated :-)

My understanding is that if you have Chrome as the default system browser an app can use Chrome Custom Tabs. Maybe uninstall Chrome and see if it instead prompts you for a browser? If so and you use Chrome by default anyway; well there's no real problem :-)
