‪Steve Schmidt: Trump is incapacitated at some level

This one-on-one with Nicolle Wallace is a much stronger reiteration of my post yesterday on the insanity and inhumanity of Republicans balancing risk to all life on the planet against the possibility of a tax cut.

Schmidt and Wallace are a fascinating pair to deliver this point. They were, in many ways, responsible for trying to give the country a Vice President Sarah Palin. (The HBO movie Game Change is well worth a watch, with Woody Harrelson playing Schmidt and Sarah Paulson as Wallace.)

You might argue that this makes them disreputable sources to talk about the capacity to fulfill the duties of the Oval Office. But, quite to the contrary: both of them have spent much of the past nine years in public contrition over what they have since admitted, and reiterated again and again, was an enormous mistake.

If anyone has looked into the abyss and been shaken to their souls by the risks of putting someone incapable into the line of succession—let alone the dangers of that person ascending to the Presidency itself—it's Schmidt and Wallace.

(Wallace, so much that she famously went to the polling place but in the end couldn't even bring herself to vote for her own campaign.)

Even if you don't ordinarily care to listen to how real Republicans think about duty and country—perhaps especially if so—this deserves a watch.
