_I'm signing this petition because Republicans need to be able to defend themselves and only a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun. Sure, the secret service will have guns, but they can't be everywhere all the time. How long will it take for one of them, or even a cop, to make it through the crowds when a crime a occurs?
Americans need to know that they are safe from crime and terrorism because someone nearby has a gun, just as they are in schools, on universities, in hospitals and other venues the GOP has helped make safe by allowing guns._

Guns Banned At The Republican National Convention: Please Help Correct This Dangerous Situation
I have recently become aware of a very problematic situation, and your signature on this petition could help make a difference. The upcoming Republican National Convention, despite being held in the Open Carry state of Ohio, will be in a venue that bills itself as a Gun Free Zone. Those very Republican politicians who are doing their best to rid us of the danger of Gun Free Zones are themselves going to be unable to carry firearms to protect themselves from rampant crime and terrorist attacks while helping to direct the political future of our country.
Please consider signing this petition asking for assistance from the venue, the NRA, Governor Kasich, the Republican National Committee, and all Republican candidates for President in correcting the egregious oversight. We the people need to do whatever we can to help get guns into that convention. For the sake of our country.
