So, Google Still Doesn't Care About Blogger?

Image
I'm fairly certain Google hasn't touched this app/service since before I stopped using it regularly (if I ever did - it's really not good for mobile quick blogging like Google+ was). However, there still doesn't seem to be a good open alternative. Many are closed gardens or they're just not in line with my needs... or, they're a Facebook property and due to Facebok, er, Meta sucking, I won't use their services. I won't even have them on my devices.  Anywho, this is the first post to Blogger from my new Android and it's working fairly smoothly, even if it's not convenient. I really would like a quick-post widget or the ability to share a photo from Photos rather than having to come to Blogger and find the photo to share.

Testing the Image Uploader ... Again

Just changed the image upload setting to "smaller" than originally set in the hopes that blogger will actually upload images for me. ... it's not. In fact, one of the images not showing is one shared to Blogger and the other is one brought in from within this post. Neither are showing as posting. At least not on drafts. I wonder what happens if you try to take a photo from within the Blogger app. I don't think I've tried that in a while, but then again, I don't think Blogger has updated the app in a while either. Update: So, image sharing on the go is not happening in Blogger, but if I use the camera app from within the Blogger app and take a photo it appears to work. So, no edited images or sharing images from the device or the gallery on the go it seems.

If you're older than your average millennial then you probably have some film prints collecting dust in an attic, basement or closet somewhere and that makes them hard to share. And, if you're like me, you're probably too lazy to sit at a scanner for hours on end digitizing your collection, or worse yet, you're (like me) too cheap to send your images off to a service that does these things for you. Good news! Google has you covered. #photography #photos #archive https://www.wired.com/2016/11/google-photoscan-app-scan-your-old-photos/?mbid=social_gplus&_utm_source=1-2-2

Motorcycle Riding Pictures

Image
You know, it occurred to me the other day that I hadn't written or posted anything here for far too long. I guess that's the price of trying to keep up with four different blogs. Anywho, last weekend I took some pictures while out riding motorcycles with some friends. The trip was an overnighter and I didn't bring my dSLR because I didn't think we'd be stopping as much as we did, but I did have my handy-dandy Note II and GoPro. If you want to read about the ride, click this link This was our group at the top of Independence Pass between Leadville and Aspen, CO. This was actually one of those happy accidents that seem to pop up now and again and bring some unexpected joy into our lives. I had the GoPro mounted to the front of the motorcycle to record the winding twisties up and down the pass only to have it take this still instead of recording video. I still don't know what caused that since the camera is set to default to video, but it happened and it turned out...

I don't know what to say.

I don't know what to say... I certainly hope the Romanian officials are trying to find the dog abuser who did this to Phoenix. The Dogs

Image
My dog Rufus and my roommate's dog, Charlie. I haven't shared pictures of them recently, at least not on this blog and these Android shots were sitting on my phone collecting electronic dust. I have some pictures from last weekend's Zombie Crawl to upload as well and will hopefully get those out in the next day or two. As always, these were edited with Google's Snapseed mobile app before sharing.

The Shell

Image
"The Original" SOOC I know I've been ignoring this blog for a while and I apologize for that indiscretion. While I haven't stopped taking pictures, both with Android and with Pentax; and while I haven't stopped sharing them on both Google+ and Streamzoo, I just haven't been in a place to sit down and type out posts. Today, hopefully that changes. The image to the right is one I snapped at the dog park a few days ago. This shotgun shell was just sitting out there on the walking path in a place designated for dogs, horses, cyclists and runners. It's not really a place for shot guns or their shells. Now, granted, this area used to be a gun-dog training area, but casual dog walkers eventually took it over from those trying to teach their hunting dogs not to fear the sound of a shotgun firing and to retrieve on command. Occasionally a shotgun shell is found in the park, some older than others. For giggles I played with a handful of photo-editing software option...

PicasaWeb and Analytics

Are you using Google's PicasaWeb to show and tell your pictures? If not, why not? It's the easiest way to share them on Google+. If you are, and you want to be able to see analytics on your images, Trey Radcliff has discovered the way. As he states on Google+ : How to hook up Google Analytics to your Google+ Photos Ever wonder how many views your photos are getting? Here is a fairly hidden way to connect your G+ Photos to Google Analytics!  1) Go to  picasaweb.google.com 2) Click on the Gear Icon in the top right - Photo Settings (notice the gear there shows DIFFERENT things than the gear on Google+ (Why?!!) 3) At the bottom turn on Photo Tracking 4) Enter a new Google Analytics Tracking Code How do you get a Google Analytics Tracking Code? 1) Go to  https://www.google.com/analytics/web   2) Click on the Gear icon on the right, then click  New Account 3) Give it any name you wish and for URL use: https://picasaweb.google.com   4) Finish the other fiel...

Rufus Walk in Snow

Image
Took the camera with me this morning when I took Rufus for a walk. We did a little trail, about 3.5 miles round trip. I took the camera mainly to get pictures of the snow and Rufus playing in the snow and whatever other wintery things I could find to take pictures of today. These first two are snow on top of a evergreen-style bush. I just wanted to get close-ups of the snow. Rufus spooked some ducks and they flew off. And some geese flew overhead. The view from the halfway point. This is Lake Arbor in Arvada, CO. This squirrel and Rufus were having a stare down. Water fountains Rufus spooked some more birds: ducks and seagulls Self The Crow Oh crap! He sees me! This flower barely made it through the snowfall. The creek Some of the doggies we see on our walks. This rottie is very friendly and likes to watch us pass. This guy is a barker and his only view is from where his wooden fence meets the nei...

Fun With the Internet

Image
Okay, so here's the fun with the internet. Find a random word generator (here are a few): http://watchout4snakes.com/CreativityTools/RandomWord/RandomWord.aspx http://creativitygames.net/generator/randomwords/1 http://coyotecult.com/tools/randomwordgenerator.php http://www.mcfedries.com/JavaScript/RandomWords.asp Then go to either Google Image Search , Picasaweb Explore , or some other searchable photohosting site and then plug in the random word and search for an image tagged with that term. For example, I will use the first one listed above ( Watch Out for Snakes ) and get a word: Providing I then take "providing" and plug it into Picasaweb Explore  and get this: http://goo.gl/Fb18g. Pick a picture from the first page and share it here.  For example, Of course, you won't be able to post the actual image, but you could post an URL to the image.  You never know what you might get.  Oh, and let's keep it somewhat clean.  If you do post someth...
