Yesterday I come into the gym to do my normal morning routine when I see a guy who looks familiar. I wonder throughout the day if it was who I thought it was. This morning I walk into the gym and there's the same man, so I walk over to ask. He sees me coming and sticks his hand out to shake in a typical politician fashion. He's saying hi to a constituent.

"Did you know you have a striking resemblance to Mike Coffman?"

"I am Mike Coffman."

"Oh, nice to meet you!"

We then talked for a minute. I showed empathy for his loss this election cycle and then turned the discussion with, "Oh, by the way, this is what a homeless veteran looks like. You know, so you can go back to DC these next two months and let them know we exist."

We then talked about VA programs and a few other things before i let him have his Sunday back. Really nice guy. Really horrid politics (he's Tea Party).

He just came up to me, "Hey, Jason. Give me a call later this week. Let me know how things are going. I'll be back in Washington on Friday, I think, but give me a call. Let whoever (answers) know I asked you to call."

Like I said, really nice guy.

Be aware of political seduction. If he tries to use you.. make sure you get something substantial ahead of time. Also.. watch your soul.. you're in a vulnerable position and evil actors will use that to turn you.

Since you mention it: Please accept my sincere, heartfelt thanks and genuine gratitude for your willing, voluntary military service for our country. It mattered. It still matters, regardless the nation turning its collective backs to you except for parades and holidays and reserve duty.
