I'm still trying to figure out how The Shining is supposed to be scary. I've seen it three times and not once did i think it was frightening.

It's called horror because Stephen King is considered horror. But he has never fit well into that genre. He has always skewed more into a disturbing fantasy realm IMO.

It's also a Kubrick film, which puts it in a league of its own. There are whole theses written on the subtext that's supposed to exist in this film
