Competition is good, even when it's against fan favorite, Google. Personally, I don't believe this means handset makers are trying to leave Android, but rather, unbuckle from their reliance on the mobile OS. Samsung's been making standalone services that directly compete with the Big G for years now and it was only a matter of time before they decided to take a few steps away from Android and focus on their own products.

The question is, are consumers ready to decouple from integrated Google? Are Samsung and Huawei willing to gamble on enough consumers jumping ship?
