Personally speaking, I don't have a fascination with Mars or Mars related stories. I mean, aside from reading Stranger in a Strange Land and watching The Martian. Stranger be a great story, not because of Mars, but because of society's reaction to a new religious philosophy and The Martian due to it being a story of human perseverance.
