Whew, just blocked someone for posting pro-alQaeda material into my stream.

I don't like blocking people and I especially don't like blocking people because I disagree with his/her political statements, but in this case, stating "we miss you bin laden" and other terrorist supportive comments, I couldn't help myself.

I've got a kid in my stream posting constant images making lite of the attacks. I don't know if he's just too young to process what happened or actually knows how inflammatory it can be.

That he was blocked, Noble Ackerson?

Of course. I've blocked him as well

Had a look through his profile and I can't tell if he's trolling or is just a retard. Given the hipster douchebag mustache, I'm going with retard.

My first pre-emptive block in the two years I have been using this service. Could just be some little boy, but more likely some sociopath who needs attention.

You''ve been on + for two years? Where the F was I before June?

I consider Buzz and this the same thing. I have been reading your posts for that long :-)

I blocked and reported that guy.

Me too...he's got me highly hyper right about now and ready to learn a couple of f*ck you and f*ck off curse words in Portuguese...not happy about this douchebag at all!

Edit: And I am not American however as I was telling Jason it's about respect and consideration toward's other's misfortune and grief.

Yeah, I told him to go fuck himself also, before I told him I was blocking him. That is probably what he wanted though. He reminds me a little of those Westbourgho (sp?) preachers who protest at military funerals for gay people - an incredibly inflammatory thing to do.

I have pre-emptively blocked him.
Just found this post after a search... this a highly disturbed individual IMO. His profile first phrase translates to: "releasing methane in to the atmosphere since 1980", and apparently he does so in many ways. He posts inflammatory and hate stuff, even in sports. He just posted the news that Soccer team FC Porto's president was hill, and "too bad he didn't die" (just because he supports a different team form Portugal). His response to several blocks was literally "f* them all". Someone has confused being funny, with just being rude, hateful and obnoxious. I reported is profile as well for inflammatory and hate speech. Just so you know...

I can't recall if I reported him or not -- probably not since I believe in free speech even when it's hateful.
The form of "free speech" of generally insulting people because they have different political/religious/sports beliefs and wishing others dead (directly, indirectly and repeatedly) would get them in trouble in real life. I just thought this shouldn't be any different ;)
Jason ON said…
I agree that would probably get them in trouble in real life, but the larger picture is that (in the USA, anyway) free speech is protected even when we don't like it.
Jason ON said…
A lot of contries don't protect free speech.

I disagree...even in the USA, there ARE limitations.
"any advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement hostility or violence shall be prohibited by law"

"In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on libel, slander, obscenity, incitement to commit a crime, etc."

" Article 19 of the ICCPR states that "[e]veryone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference" and "everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice". Article 19 goes on to say that the exercise of these rights carries "special duties and responsibilities" and may "therefore be subject to certain restrictions" when necessary "[f]or respect of the rights or reputation of others" or "[f]or the protection of national security or of public order (order public), or of public health or morals".[1][2]"

And I disagree: name me one law that trumps the Constitution's Bill of Rights and then tell me what the first amendment says about free speech.
Jason ON , despite not being int the US... I think I know what free speech is. Considering I live in Country with a very rich history that has passed through many changes over the centuries, like Monarchy, Inquisition even, and a Dictatorship enforced by Censorship and a Political Police. To me free speech is the freedom to speak your mind about what you believe in without fear of persecution or retaliation, something we conquered and have for "just" 35 years. Free speech for me includes "I'm right" and "my religion/politics/etc are right and others are utterly wrong", and includes respecting other peoples beliefs and their freedom. Free speech for me is not the liberty to insult and incite violence and hatred upon those that do not see things the way you do. And in G+ terms, there is a way to report people for doing so on "inflammatory and hate posts". Not saying you should... But I found myself insulted and I don't have to take that. As I wouldn't in person.

Jason ON Even if you had reported him nothing would have happened - Google will only censor boobs.
