I'm going to have to suggest this one as a Darwin Award nominee. Who in their right mind believes a single book - even a hardback - was going to stop a Desert Eagle? For those who are not initiated, the Desert Eagle is a .50 caliber (that's a half inch, people) pistol. It shoots a bullet that is a half inch in diameter.

She's not without a measure of culpability, unfortunately.

Guns are not toys. They are weapons. The Desert Eagle is designed to be particularly nasty, and thinking a book is going to stop a bullet fired at point-blank range is plain stupid, 'persuaded' or not.

Todd Green Given the lack of reasoning, I would not be surprised if the 'test' was at a greater range - the fatal shot was fired at point-blank. Also, there was probably no accounting for fluid shock (i.e., even if the book had stopped the bullet, the shockwave would have caused significant damage).

This level of stupidity is beyond understanding. Lack of common sense for the sake of likes doesn't excuse the action. She needs to fry and hopefully the next idiot thinks twice about such a stunt for the sake of followers. An example should be made.

Jose, do you truly believe that killing this woman would help prevent this from happening again? Surely the existing publicity is sufficient. I can't see how killing another person would help at all. You may think that she "deserves" it, but that is a constructed concept. No one actually deserves anything, good or bad. We can only try to shape a society in a positive direction where we can. You can't force people to be smarter, but you can try to educate. An approach of nurturing the positive tends to have better results than punishing the negative.
