Have you ever wanted to go bison hunting? I'm no expert, but I don't think 600 is that many, but I suppose the sparse desert vegetation can't hold too large of a population.

It's not really desert where they are at, all ponderosa pine at 5500+ feet. Just to little room to support that large of a herd.

I've only been to the Grand Canyon once. It looked all desert-y to me. But hey, it was just the once.

Where the bison are is a area just north of Flagstaff. The very southern an eastern area. Kaibab area google.com - Google Maps
