That's why it's a "bid". Bidding doesn't mean you'll win, it's a gamble.

I'm just finding the timing a suspicious coincidence. Why now? Why not a few months ago, or a couple of years ago? Because right now gives enough time to kick up a dust storm and let it settle a bit without being completely forgotten.
