A dog died on a United Airlines plane after a flight attendant ordered its owner to put the animal in the plane's overhead bin.

#UnitedAirlines' official statement seems to contradict what passengers witnessed on the flight between the dog's owner and the flight attendant.

The flight attendant "did not knowingly place the dog in the overhead bin," United spokeswoman Maggie Schmerin said in a statement.
