When I was in school in NM, we were told not to play in the gullys for fear of flash floods. Even in clear skies. Something about the water coming from the mountains.

Richard Orth and I might believe that if it weren't freezing out there, especially in the mountains. No thaw and no precipitation means no flash floods.
