I can't help but wonder if what is happening in Turkey is an echo of what is to come in the USA. Even though he lost the popular vote, #DonaldTrump believes he, and the rest of the #GOP, have a mandate by the American people. What happens when that mandate is to not have a peaceful transfer of power? Trump has already shown himself to not care about Executive norms or traditions, so what would stop him from refusing to leave or, gods forbid, convincing the Republican controlled Congress to extend his terms for some in specified reason? Sure, the Constitution restricts the Executive to two terms, but Trump has already violated the document, so what's one more time?
