Where are you?

Where are you?

Ironically, there are no people with my last name in Colorado. Being the only one, I understand.

Germany, the US and Argentina seem to have a lot, though, with Germany being the highest. Oddly, when I lived in Germany, I did not meet anyone who shared my last name.

For my current last name, there are a lot in English-speaking countries, unsurprisingly. My previous married name had a reasonable number in Australia and Canada (oddly, not in Germany although it was a name with a German origin). My maiden name is super-high in England (only time I got the darkest blue color anywhere).

There were a large pocket of people with my last name where my dad grew up---and from other families too.

But, we were the only ones with our last name in a South Dakota 70,000 pop in the 70s.
My name is only present in 4 states of the US. Most likely everyone with the name is a descendant of my great-grandfather, as he changed the spelling after immigrating. My name is so rare I can tell they missed me and my brother, as the counties we live in are both white on the map. Chicago, IL is where the most people with my last name are.
