Their obsession with sideways triangles is getting out of hand.

I wouldn't have thought of it as unintuitive. The triangle is the symbol for "play" and the note suggests it's "play music" rather than "play movies" or any other media format that Google Play offers. It makes perfect sense to me.

I kind of liked the old one, but recently all the "play" apps got that triangle style icon. :S

Bodhipaksa, I thought the headphones were much more intuitive than this triangle with a music symbol. This new icon is just ugly. The reds, yellows and oranges aren't helping it, either.
