The irony here is that the Affordable Care Act - Obamacare - was designed to reduce the number of Americans who use the emergency room as their general care. Now, a quick guess as to how this #GOP lawmaker feels about Obamacare. #Obamacare #ACA https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/diane-black-emergency-rooms_us_59e674cce4b0d0e4fe6bd0ee

For those not toeing the Republican party line, the knowledge that the #ACA, or #Obamacare, is being made inoperable by the #GOP is fairly standard stuff. But, countless #DonaldTrump supporters truly believe the ACA is failing of it's own accord. What piece of knowledge could truly change their minds? via Roberto Bayardo Originally shared by Steve S Duh. https://www.usnews.com/opinion/policy-dose/articles/2017-05-30/republicans-raised-your-health-care-premiums-not-obamacare

Equal access to health care is a privilege?

Equal access to health care is a privilege? So says the young woman who received tax layer funded healthcare. One has to wonder if she'd believe the same if she had a more stingy employer or had to self-provide. #MissUSA #Healthcare #ACA #Obamacare https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2017/05/15/miss-usa-says-health-care-is-a-privilege-not-a-right-sparking-debate-during-pageant/?utm_term=.4b662dff4203

What's next for the #GOP's repeal and replace plans? In short: the Senate.

What's next for the #GOP's repeal and replace plans? In short: the Senate. Originally shared by **** The Senate is not the end of the line for repeal-and-replace, it's just the graveyard for the House version just passed. The right kind of leadership, wily and shrewd and steeped in Senate micro-maneuvering, might just find a way to bring a few Democrats on board. And if you are looking for that kind of leadership, untrammeled by ideological purity or other forms of fuzzy thinking, you need look no further. I give you Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky. #ACA #Obamacare #AHCA #Trumpcare #Healthcare #MedicareForAll #SinglePayer http://www.npr.org/2017/05/07/527127968/dont-count-on-the-senate-to-save-obamacare-or-to-save-the-house?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=npr&utm_term=nprnews&utm_content=20170507

Those of us paying attention saw this coming. Sure, some who voted #Republican will claim repealing #Obamacare is still the right choice, but many more, those who risk becoming the uninsured masses and those who will see their rates double or triple under the #GOP offering, will have to question whether #DonaldTrump and the rest of the Right is looking out for their best interests. https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/03/14/opinion/the-original-lie-about-obamacare.html?_r=0&referer=https://www.google.com/

Remember yesterday when I posted about the #GOP not really being interested in their constituents? Here they are going to push through an #Obamacare replacement without any discussion, debate or review. Yesterday, House Speaker Paul Ryan boasted that his party would follow a deliberate, transparent process to repeal and replace Obamacare. “This is how the legislative process is supposed to be designed,” he told the Today show. “We’re not hatching some bill in a backroom and plopping it on the American people’s front door.” Today, House Republicans made it known that they will release their plan tomorrow and that it will only be made available to House Republicans. Oh, and they're still not answering their phones, holding town halls or otherwise engaging in constituent discussions. Instead, they're choosing party politics and agenda over constituent needs. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/03/only-republicans-are-allowed-to-see-new-health-care-plan.html?_utm_source=1-2-2

What happens when you spend six years campaigning that you're going to do something and then your promises get called out with no plan of action set in place? Update: The Washington Post has obtained a recording of House and Senate Republican meeting over how to proceed on Obamacare. The meeting, held privately, suggests that Republicans have even less idea over how to proceed than their public comments suggest. There appears to be no consensus on anything. Can Republicans repeal the law through a budget reconciliation bill, and then try to pass a replacement later? They don’t know. (“The fact is, we cannot repeal Obamacare through reconciliation,” says Rep. Tom McClintock. “We need to understand exactly, what does that reconciliation market look like? And I haven’t heard the answer yet.”) Are they going to keep the law’s expansion of Medicaid? They don’t even agree on attaching a measure to defund Planned Parenthood. #ACA #Obamacare #GOP http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/0...
