Being in the job hunting frame of mind, I'm amazed at how difficult companies make it for candidates to be taken seriously. I'm not talking about the hoops a candidate has to jump through in order to be considered, such as applications, interviewing, assessments and so forth, but rather the hoops in a game the candidate doesn't even know they're playing. For example, The problem with this email is that you can clearly see I replied to it only to receive no return. This morning a reply came from an automated system informing me I was no longer being considered for a role I applied to three months ago. Normally I'd just let it go, but I'd met these people in person, they were interested in me, asked me to apply and contact them once the application was completed. So, when I received the dismissal email out of the blue, I was intrigued. I replied to it (as the small print says to reply to the email and it would be received). And then I decided to log int...

At about 6:05 MST I received a SMS group message from my mom saying, "I'm very sorry. live you all".  I had to guess my dad was dead. And I was right. Apparently he's died about 15 minutes prior. I knew he'd been in hospice since last Friday (today being Friday, a week later) but didn't know he'd been asleep that whole time. My younger brother told me that. Sleep , of course, being a relative term as he was in a drug induced state of not being awake.  So, no I am fatherless.  Not really a big deal. While not estranged, we weren't close. In fact, in the last twenty years I can recall him calling proactively only once and that was for my past birthday.  This past November, when I was in Florida for my sister's funeral, he barely spoke to me and when I tried to spend some time with him he shook my hand, said "It was nice seeing you" and walked away. A little #BlackandWhite from my walk at Roxborough State Park yesterday. I'm loving all the details in the shadows of the rocks.

I hadn't been to  Roxborough State Park  in a couple of years. A friend of mine happened to be on that side of town and when the subject of "what next" popped up we decided to check it out as neither of us had been there before.  Me, because dogs are not allowed and her because she never really went outside or explored her surroundings.  I decided to go today and for the first couple of hours the sky was overcast with a solid ceiling of grey. It wasn't until the clouds cleared that the full Majesty of the park became apparent. 

The remnants of this tree were sitting on a trail I was hiking and I couldn't not take a photo of it. Sadly, all I had on me was my phone, but I was able to grab this image which I liked in black and white. 

I keep forgetting to use this app, especially for the types of posts I would have made on Google+. As it is, here's a photo of my boots while I waited for a doctor's appointment: As I Sit Here Waiting ...
