Mo' Neighbors, Mo' Problems.

Last Sunday at 4AM I was woken from a very deep sleep by screaming and shouting from somewhere outside my bedroom window, as recounted HERE . I listened to it for about 10 minutes thinking it would quiet down - that the people would get it out of their system and go inside or leave, or whatever. It didn't quiet down. From what I heard it sounded like a woman was venting, or perhaps screaming at a man, and someone else was consoling her, with statements like: "He's an asshole," "He's a fucking cunt," and "You don't have to take that from him," and "No you're a bitch." Granted those aren't direct quotes, but something along those lines, the last one sounding like it came from a man's voice, hence the assumption that someone was fighting with their significant other. Since it was 4AM and since it was loud enough to wake me from my sleep I called the police to come and investigate. At the time I was thinking it was a d...

Going Rogue

Earlier today I posted a topic on Google+ . This particular post was a share from someone else's post of a feminist blog about how men should not walk up to women "on the street" and tell them they're pretty. While the original author does make the case that this is not a universal rule she does go on to claim that telling women they're pretty or dressed nice is considered harassment or demeaning by a lot of women. She then goes on to tell us about the inner workings of the male mind and how if we see an attractive woman the only reason we have for complimenting them is because of an innate desire to fuck (her word, not mine). Is it wrong to compliment a girl? Not at all. And of course, that opinion puts me square in the neanderthal category that feminists reserve for men who don't automatically agree with their position. However, the approach is important: a man walking up to a strange woman on the street and just saying, "Hey, you're hot,"...

Scared of Dogs and the State of Consideration

What do I do first thing every morning? Well, if you've known me for more than 30 seconds, you know I walk the dog(s) first thing every day. This happens before anything else each and every morning of my life. Unless of course, on that rare occasion when my roommate is awake before me and has walked them, or is in the process of walking them.  This morning was no different. Wake up. Hydro-evacuation. Grab the leashes and out the door.  For those of you who don't know, I live in a condo in the Denver area. The community is 25 buildings divided between two distinct styles. One style, the kind I live in, is eight condos per building in a square shape. The other half of the community, the buildings are in rows with 5 to 9 condos per building. Since this morning's walk was just a short pee-walk to allow the dogs a chance for their morning hydro-evacuation we weren't walking very far. In fact, we walked two buildings over around one and back. The whole walk shoul...
