"the Big Bopper" Richardson Died in a Plane Crash on 3 February 1959. “It was already snowing at Minneapolis, and the general forecast for the area along the intended route indicated deteriorating weather conditions,” wrote the Civil Aeronautics Board investigators six months after the crash that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. “the Big Bopper” Richardson on this day in 1959. “The ceiling and visibility were lowering…and winds aloft were so high one could reasonably have expected to encounter adverse weather during the estimated two-hour flight.” All of this information was available to 21-year-old pilot Roger Peterson, if only he had asked for it. Originally shared by Sean Cowen Hungarian Rhapsody: Queen Live in Budapest 27 July 1986, Queen became the first western act since Louis Armstrong in 1964 to perform in Easton Europe when they played at Budapest's Nepstadion, Hungary, and the gig was filmed and released as 'Queen Magic in Budapest'. The Magic Tour was the biggest and final ever tour by the British rock band Queen with their lead singer Freddie Mercury and their bassist John Deacon. which took place in 1986. The band would not tour again until 19 years later, when the Queen + Paul Rodgers Tour began in 2005, after the death of Freddie Mercury on 24 November 1991, and the retirement of John Deacon in 1997. The Magic Tour took in 26 dates around Europe's stadiums, in support of their latest album A Kind of Magic .
