It Happened at the Dog Park

Image
Well, that was unpleasant. Since we didn't go yesterday, I decided to take Dumb and Dumber to the dog park today for some good exercise and long naps afterwards. That it is cooler outside than it has been all week didn't hurt - Rufus loves cooler weather more than I do. Dummies Everything was going normally. We walked down one path, followed the creek, stopping at the usual spots so Rufus could jump in the water and cool off, until we arrived at the small lagoon-thing. I don't know what else to call it. The creek pools and then a small section breaks out and rejoins to the larger creek. At one point it was a called a pond, but to me it looks more like a pool of water. Regardless, we were there when a park ranger came walking buy with a brown Australian Shepherd or Mini Aussie. He was looking for it's owner which I thought was extremely nice of him since most rangers would have just taken the dog to a shelter and called it a day. Rufus at First Water Rufus...

Rufus and the Mirror

Met this girl at the dog park earlier today who has a dog very similar to Rufus. Her dog happens to be a bit taller and Rufus has longer fur, but otherwise they're nearly identical (if you don't take color into account, which you shouldn't). Both have the same mottled feet, the same tail, the same ears and eyes. She said her dog was probably a setter or spaniel mix. I just had to agree with her, I usually refer to Rufus as an Aussie/Setter mix. When I adopted Rufus from the shelter I'd hoped at the time he'd grow a bit taller to be more in line with her dog's height, but he never did. He's actually perfectly proportional but with his longer body hair his legs appear shorter than they are making him seem goofily proportioned. ;)

A Day Like Any Other

Eradication A long time ago in a galaxy far far away there was a woman. She was at the dog park and calling out "Rufus!" over and over again. As I approached I wondered why she was calling out my dog's name and when I finally arrived where she was I asked her, "Why are you calling Rufus?" She replied, "My dog's name is Rufus." We had a laugh, talked about dogs and over the next few years I've run across her at various times while out at the dog park. She isn't always there, but I see her at least once a week or so; sometimes on the weekend, sometimes during week; in the mornings and occasionally in the afternoon. The more familiar with her I've become, the less I wanted to be around her, but the friendly chap that I am, I'm always nice, inquire about her day and if possible move on my own way. Sometimes that's easier said than done. Dog Park at Cherry Creek State Park This morning I arrived at the dog park just a...

Today at the Dog Park

Took Rufus and Charlie to the park today. Took the camera as well. Didn't get as many nice shots as I would've liked, but what're going to do?
