I really enjoy this movie and am watching it again at this very moment. If I remember correctly, it's the last movie I saw in a theater before Covid shut everything down. And if you're wondering, the next movie in a theater was Black Widow from a couple of weeks ago.  I think one of the reasons It horoighly enjoy this film is because none of the characters make around decisions. Usually in adventure/horror films the characters are running around making every dumb decision the writers and director can imagine. Here, they're not.  Have you seen it? You know, I didn't have any problems with The Punisher movie from 2004  other than John Travolta's character and the kid gloves they had Frank Castle wear. The follow-up, Punisher: War Zone , wasn't a bad movie in itself, but the gratuitous violence might have put it just a little over the top. As for movies about lapsed good-guys meting out punishment , Denzel Washington's  Man on Fire  was a much better Punisher movie than either actual Punisher movie. Hell, even The Equalizer was a much better movie than either of the Punisher films. Today, I was perusing some movie website about Marvel movies and someone mentioned a Dirty Laundry Punisher featurette. So, I was off to YouTube to see what it was all about. At a little less than 11 minutes, it has Thomas Jane reprising his role as Frank Castle and Ron Perleman as a wheelchair bound store owner. And it's pretty good. Just saw two preview for two movie that look ridiculously fun: Hobo with a Shotgun and Rubber Who doesn't want to see Rutger Hauer as a hobo with a shotgun dispensing hobo-justice? And a killer tire? Sure. Why not?

On Tuesday night I had a chance to see this movie in a sneak peek thanks to my friend, Andrea, who had an extra ticket. Or rather, thanks to Andrea's husband who had a Crossfit class to attend thus leaving her with an extra ticket.  Starring just about every white male in Hollywood, this movie was fairly entertaining with some humor and gratuitous gore. The story unfolded much like Get Shorty unfolded, it seemed that the end "movie" was based on the lives of the characters of the movie in a whole 'chicken and egg' scenario with a Pulp Fiction essence. And I couldn't help but think of The Mexican , either, a movie that showed us, if it can go wrong, it will go wrong. Usually because someone lacked basic common sense skills. Not in a (modern) stupid comedy format where they just try and throw characters into ridiculous positions for the quick laugh, but more along the lines of waking up one day and realizing that friend you have who always seems to be...

I'm watching Walking Tall on TBS right now. I've never seen it. Kind of a lighter more societal friendly First Blood . That is to say: special forces veteran comes to small PNW town and proceeds to tear corruption apart. The differences are in this version, the vet (played by the Rock) fights corrupt cops via elections and then takes on a drug dealing casino owner. In First Blood Stallone's character, John Rambo, is outside the law taking on crooked cops.
