Aurora Colorado, Bad Cop

Image
Today didn't follow plan at all. The original plan was simple: finish packing, load the stuff and the dogs, head into them thar hills for a few days of camping. However, I woke up more tired than when I went to bed, couldn't keep my eyes open and generally didn't accomplish much. Instead of packing up the truck I watched some TV ( Poltergeist  was on and it's still a damn good movie) and then watched some more. During the movie I'd occasionally pack a bag, set stuff next to the door to be carried out and make lists of things I needed to be sure to grab before locking the house for a week. I went to the store to pick up some last minute things like bottled water, chips and sodas then headed back home where I dutifully loaded the truck with everything. My last trip to the truck was to load the dogs and drive away. Too bad that's where the problem started. When I arrived home from the store I could hear one of my neighbor's having a very loud ar...

Rufus in the Snow

I know I've been neglecting this blog for a month or more and there's no one to blame but myself. Not only have I been very busy, but I've also had, and recovered from, a cold as well as ending up on some sort of weird sleep cycle where I'm tired all day, sleeping all night and tired again the next day. To be honest, I think it's the cold that upset my sleep cycle. Last night seemed to be the first night in weeks where I slept through the entire night and woke up feeling refreshed. Anywho, about a week ago it snowed in Denver (again). I mean, it's winter and snow isn't uncommon during this time of year. Naturally, I took Rufus to the dog park. He loves the snow and has a blast running around in the icy cold goodness. I think he agrees with the cooler weather and the snow just makes everything smell new and wonderful. Could you imaging being a dog? Science says they're sense of smell is hundreds or thousands of times more sensitive than a human being...

After the Flood

Here are a couple of pictures from the hail storm that rolled through eastern Denver/western Aurora, CO this afternoon. The water in this is actually a park that flooded with more than 6 feet of water height, going so far as to cover signs and guard rails. The sidewalks were, and are, underwater, however the water covering the playground has since receded. As always, these were edited with Snapseed.
