#Oops!

#Oops! I have a feeling #Windows10 is about to get extremely bloated as Microsoft rushes to patch and change code. On a positive note, #OpenSource efforts just got a boost. Originally shared by Josh Sabboth "...Anyone who has this information can scour it for security vulnerabilities, which could be exploited to hack Windows systems worldwide. The code runs at the heart of the operating system, at some of its most trusted levels..." https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/06/23/windows_10_leak/

Have you seen the #Windows10 ads suggestions?

Have you seen the #Windows10 ads suggestions? I have and view them as no more intrusive than Google advertising suggesting I should be using Chrome or buying one of their devices. If you'd like to disable those ads suggestions then here's a link for you. http://www.thewindowsclub.com/turn-off-ads-notifications-explorer

There's still time to get #Windows10 for those of tiu who held out.

There's still time to get #Windows10 for those of tiu who held out. As long as you don't mind misrepresenting yourself. Or, maybe you do use assistive technologies. Regardless, you can still get the free upgrade ... for now. http://www.cnet.com/news/microsoft-windows-10-free-upgrade-offer-assistive-features/

I haven't used #MicrosoftWord in years, having eschewed the program for #LibreOffice and #GoogleDocs.

I haven't used #MicrosoftWord in years, having eschewed the program for #LibreOffice and #GoogleDocs. But I do use #Windows10, #OneNote and #Sway, and have enjoyed then all immensely. In fact, and I've not been shy about saying so, I believe Microsoft has been on the right path ever since Steve Ballmer left the company. In fact, I would have considered a Windows Phone had my carrier carried flagship devices from Microsoft. Now it seems Microsoft has turned some of their magic on Word, bringing research straight to the word processor alleviating the need to leave the program and opening a browser. As I've already mentioned, I don't really use Word, but I do use Google Docs and therefore know Docs has a built in research feature, as well. I'm not sure how the two compare, but I have to assume they're similar functions. http://www.theverge.com/2016/7/26/12283814/microsoft-word-researcher-editor-features

What's in the box?

What's in the box? Nothing extravagant but some expansion of current features. Personally, I've enjoyed #Windows10, even if I haven't used it on one of those convertible laptop/tablet Surfaces. http://www.pcworld.com/article/3099199/windows/windows-10-anniversary-update-review-cortana-edge-overshadow-windows-ink.html

I like #Windows10 but not enough to buy a subscription for home use.

I like #Windows10 but not enough to buy a subscription for home use. Not when there are Linux distros getting better every day and cheap Chromebooks. If Microsoft truly decides to turn Windows10 into a subscription service for consumers I'm sure they'll find a lot of people jumping ship for 2-in-1 Android tablets or some other option, like Apple. For enterprise, though, a subscription service may actually be less expensive than hundreds of OS licenses. http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2016/07/14/microsoft-confirms-windows-10-new-monthly-charge/#4279e1cedfab

#Windows10 tools you might actually find useful.

#Windows10 tools you might actually find useful. Sure, I use Hangouts in lieu of Line and would recommend either Google Apps (cloud) or LibreOffice (desktop) as free productivity suites. Sure, there might be a free Office 365 version out there, which is also good if you're stuck in MicrosoftLand. Full disclosure: I have not verified whether there is a free version of O365 available or not. http://www.infoworld.com/article/3049992/microsoft-windows/top-25-free-apps-for-windows-10.html#slide1

Microsoft has some big changes coming to #Windows10 this summer. Some are highly anticipated, while others ... not so much. What do you think about Microsoft's announcement? http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2016/04/01/windows-10-redstone-anniversary-update-great-new-features/?_utm_source=1-2-2#449b78e5bb61

#Windows10  is rolling out today and some of us already have it. I don't, but some of us do. Does this bother anyone? I mean, it's a simple opt out when setting up your new OS package, but are most people going to know? Is sharing wifi such a big deal anymore? At my house we have a main wifi and a secondary "guest" wifi (that's what you get when you live with a network security engineer). Does anyone actually tell their friends and family no when they ask to hop on the wifi? What about people who live within close proximity to each other? Does this mean neighbors who might be Skype buddies or Outlook contacts can suddenly ride on each other's networks? I live in a condo and can see about 20 wifi networks at any given time.  https://krebsonsecurity.com/2015/07/windows-10-shares-your-wi-fi-with-contacts/
