I was just on the phone with my friend in Albuquerque, NM. She'd retrieved her grandfather's diaries and was reading me excerpts from 11/11/1918. Yeah, 1918. He was from Deming, NM, was recruited into the Army and he wrote about his journey from his hometown to his time fighting the Germans in France, to include the end of the war itself. It was very surreal to hear those word from 100 years ago tomorrow. #VeteransDay

Like, our barracks were in the same building, mine faced west and his faced north, or something like that.
